DEPLOYMENT OF WEB-BASED RECRUITMENT STRATEGY AND INTRANET-BASED EDUCATIONAL HR SOLUTIONS

Challenge:
WRHA (Winnipeg Regional Health Authority) requires HR educational and online recruitment e-business strategy.

The WRHA has established a division called the WRHA AHRI (Aboriginal Human Resources Initiative). The primary goal of this initiative is to encourage a "representative workforce" of Aboriginal people at the WRHA and help the entire WRHA organization improve its Aboriginal / non-Aboriginal relationships amongst employees of the WRHA and the people the WRHA serves.

Solution:
The WRHA partnered with YouCanDoThat.com to implement an e-business strategy that would complement the vision of the WRHA AHRI.

The e-business development consisted of both intranet and Internet development, while addressing a few of the highlights below:

* Web-based recruitment strategy for health and non-health related employment opportunities.

For example, members of the general public can manage their own Web-based account and specify multiple job categories they are interested in. Every time the WRHA has new openings available, both internally as well as for participating health organizations, the subscribers will be notified by e-mail of any job openings that match their selected criteria.

* Web-based self-automation tools to allow non-technical staff the ability to disseminate WRHA AHRI information via the intranet (internal information) or Internet (public information) to a selected group of audience members.

* Online awareness training information available to all staff via the WRHA intranet.

* Online accessible registration forms for education and training purposes.

* In-depth information concerning the WRHA AHRI strategy. External information is provided to the public via the Internet medium and proprietary information will be provided to staff via a secured environment on the intranet.

* Opt-in/opt-out e-mail subscriptions for various newsletter and notification services.

These Web-based services were developed using several popular technologies, programming languages and protocols, such as HTML, PHP, MySQL and sendmail, and are hosted on WRHA's internal Web servers.

Results:
Significant improvements of efficiency and dissemination of information with deployment of the e-business applications to educate, recruit, retain and promote an Aboriginal representative workforce at the WRHA.
